bioVibez LX-AC-R2A-D – Ambient light / LUX sensor automatic switch is a dual output / channel micro-controlled dusk to dawn sensor with user configurable relay output. The sensor’s parameters can be configured using a touch switch and two 7-segment LED display to navigate its menu. Channel parameters can be set independently. Also, channel can be disabled if LUX para is ‘OFF’.

Microcontroller based - A microcontroller-based design gives more precise digital control.

SMPS - for standby power savings. The module is powered by a built in universal SMPS (switched mode power supply).

Dynamic set lux point - Dynamic set point is captured after a delay, once channel relay switches ‘ON’. The dynamic set point includes the new ambient lux value of the light attached to the outputs. This prevents hunting or race condition.

Polycarbonate enclosure - Fire retardant grade polycarbonate enclosure ensures safety and rigidity. Polycarbonate is more durable than ABS, as it does not degrade or change colour with exposure to sunlight.

PRECAUTION
PPlease note installing the bioVibez - dusk to dawn sensor requires electrical wiring. So, if you do not feel confident or safe performing these tasks, you should contact an electrician to install the sensor for you.
INSTALLATION LOCATION
Factors that help in fixing location
  • Choose a rigid mounting area on wall or pole.
  • The sensor should be properly as oriented as shown in figure 1.
  • The sensor should be affixed properly. If loosely mounted, any shaking due to wind or other vibrations can wrongly trigger it.
  • Make sure there no moving objects which can cause moving shadows in front of sensor.
  • The sensor should be mounted away from direct focus of lights.
  • Sensing window should be facing down. (See figure 1)

  • The sensor can be screwed directly to a wall / pole.

WIRING CHANNEL OUTPUTS
  • Sensor modules relay output is type-A (tied to input supply) (see figure 3)
  • Devices can be connected directly to output channels using OUTx & N (neutral) terminals (see figure 5)
  • Neutral can be source with external sources too.
  • Channel loads should not within the limits. (See product technical specifications datasheet)
  • It is recommended to attach an external fuse with a rating as per load connected. (See figure 4)

CONFIGURATION INTERFACE- 7-SEG DISPLAY + TOUCH + BEEP
The device can be configured using-
  • 7-segment dual LED display (Visible from bottom through the dark tinted plate)
  • "CONFIG" touch button
  • Audible "beeps" (BEEP count and speed change as per menu level)
STEP-1 - ENTER PARAMETER SCROLL MODE / ACTIVATE DISPLAY
  • TAP once on "CONFIG" to activate display.
  • A "BEEP" will be heard & 7-Segment LED display will turn "ON"
  • The first parameter name & value (currently stored) will toggle on the display
Notes
  • Parameter Name / Value toggle every second eg. L1 = 10 Lux
STEP-2 - SCROLL PARAMETER / CURRENT VALUES
Scroll parameter menu / View selected parameter value
  • TAP once on "CONFIG" to scroll to next value in parameter name list.
  • A "BEEP" will be heard & 7-Segment LED display will display the next parameter / value pair (toggled every second).
  • TAP again to scroll to the next para in list & view selected parameter value. (After last para, the para name list will roll back to first parameter)

STEP-4 - SCROLL VALUES TO SELECT NEW PARAMETER VALUE
Scroll selected parameter value list to select new value
  • TAP once on "CONFIG" to scroll to next value in parameter value list.
  • A single "BEEP" will be heard & 7-Segment LED display will display the next parameter value in list.
  • Value will roll over to 1st value after last value of parameter value list is displayed.

General FAQ's
Light sensors detect ambient light in a room or environment. They are also called dusk to dawn sensors since they are useful to automatically switch lights ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ as per the ambient light settings (LUX set point). LUX is a measure of light
Lux is a standardised unit of measurement of light level intensity, which is commonly referred to as "illuminance" or "illumination". A measurement of 1 lux is equal to the illumination of a one metre square surface that is one metre away from a single candle.
The difference between lumen and lux is that the lux takes into account the area over which the luminous flux (lumens) is spread. A flux of 1000 lumens, concentrated into an area of one square metre, lights up that square metre with an illuminance of 1000 Lux. A led bulb is rated as lumens as it is a light source. But sensors are calibrated to calculate the ambient light in the environment of interest. A 100 lumens light will not illuminate the whole room with same intensity. The intensity will vary with distance from the light source as also the reflections/absorption of light due to various surfaces. Hence, Lux is used as a unit of light for sensors.
Hunting is phenomenon which closed loop systems exhibit due to over correction. In case of light sensors hunting happens if the light source which is controlled by the sensor connected too close to the sensor. The moment light is switch ‘ON’ by the sensor the ambient light detected will become more than the lux set point. In this case the sensor will think it needs to switch "OFF" the light. The cycle will repeat it self since now the ambient light will go below the lux set point. bioVibez sensor eliminate hunting by employing dynamic set point detection. It has the intelligence to detect the ambient light increase due to its output going "ON".
Light / LUX sensors measures continuously the ambient light within the detection zone. If ambient light in an area/room falls below its lux set point lights connected to its output will automatically switch ‘ON’. When the ambient light becomes more than the lux set point the sensor will switch ‘OFF ‘all lights connected. This saves a lot of energy and shaves down electricity bills and at the same time reduces human intervention. Lux sensor provide automation + energy savings.
